And Noah Began to be a Farmer

Wild Einkorn Wheat on Karaca Dag

In 2019, I took two friends on an expedition to the mountain, Karaca Dag, in Turkiye, to investigate some ruins and geoglyphs that I suspected to be the remains of the Ark and the tomb of Noah.

The first farmers, according to archaeology, were the Pre-Pottery Neolithic Culture. The Neolithic people farmed several plants called the Neolithic Founder Crops. These included:

  • Emmer Wheat

  • Einkorn Wheat

  • Barley

  • Lentil

  • Pea

  • Chick Pea

  • Bitter Vetch

  • Flax

As it happens, the mountain Karaca Dag sits at the very center of the Pre-Pottery Neolithic culture, as well as the wild distribution of the eight Neolithic Founder Crops.

In this video, I was at the south end of Karaca Dag and looked at what appears to be wild Einkorn Wheat.
