Several of the stories in the Bible occurred at wells. Abraham’s servant met Rebecca at a well. Jacob met Rachel at a well. Moses met Zipporah at a well. Jesus met the Samaritan Woman at a well.
In 2019, on my expedition to Karaca Dag in Turkiye, we found this ancient well on the north side of the mountain. It is still used by the shepherds. I cannot say whether it was dug by one of the patriarchs or not. But it is a great example of the type of well that the patriarchs used.
