Isn't there an issue with the Septuagint chronology where it makes Methuselah die after the flood has happened? And Methuselah's name means something like 'death send' and people interpret his name as a prophecy i.e. 'when he dies it will be sent'. He dies in the year of the flood in the Masoretic chronology.
I am not even certain that the inflated numbers are original to the real Septuagint. They may only exist in the surviving fork that reached us. They could be alterations made later or only one version of the LXX.

Correct. Whoever concocted the LXX chronology did not fact check it for internal consistency.
